Naturalist Notebook

Between the months of January and March last year, I made a point to spend an hour each week observing the woods of Schenley Park as winter melted into spring. I had always been a fan of the drawings of early naturalists like Audubon and Lear, and so I decided to try my hand at painting my observations in watercolor. Sitting still for an hour in the cold and damp hardly sounds appealing, but it was all worth it to watch the forest come alive again.
